TOLEDO, OH – Stephon Johnson, 17-years-old, was shot when multiple people opened fire during a massive block party celebrating July 4th, 2021 on Lawrence Avenue. Johnson was airlifted to a hospital in Ann Arbor, where he later died.
11 other people were also injured during the intense gunfight. Four victims are 19-years-old, one is 18-years-old two are 17-years-old, two are 16-years-old, one is 15-years-old and one is 11-years-old. A 51-year-old man was also involved. All of those victims are expected to survive.
A 911 call was placed at 12:24 a.m. for a male subject shooting into the air and 300 people fighting in the street in the area of Lawrence Avenue near Wall Street.
Those who attended the block party are not being cooperative with the investigation. It is unclear what started the incident. At this time no suspects have been identified or have been arrested. It is estimated that over 80 rounds were fired from multiple weapons.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a $5,000 for anyone who has information that will lead to the identification, arrest and conviction of those responsible for the shooting.
