CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – On Sunday July 11th, 2021, at 9:50 a.m., the Chesterfield Police Department received a call regarding a man that had entered a residence located in the 49000 block of Michelle Ann Dr.

It was reported by the caller that the man had assaulted another male with a gardening trowel and demanded money. The victim complied and gave the suspect his money and ATM card.The suspect fled the residence on foot as Chesterfield Officers responded to the area.

At approximately 10:00 am, officers were called to the area of Chesterfield Road and Gratiot Avenue for a suspicious vehicle fire. Officers reviewed the video at the fire scene and established that the suspect involved in the home invasion was also responsible for the fire.

A K-9 and a CBP Air and Marine Operations (AMO) helicopter equipped with thermal imaging was requested to the area. The suspect was located by officers and taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

The suspect was booked on multiple charges including home invasion, felonious assault, arson, and attempted breaking and entering. The suspect is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail.
