CHANDLER TOWNSHIP, MI – At 5:49p.m. on Monday July 12th, 2021, an Elkton woman lost her life while walking on Campbell Road, near the intersection of Grassmere Road in Chandler Township.

The victim in this incident was 67 year old Linda Shaw of Elkton. She resided very close to the scene.

A witness to the sound of the collision from a distance away believed it occurred around 20 minutes earlier but wasn’t alarmed at the time because of different incidents that have occurred with vehicles over the years hauling other vehicles or scrap metal while heading to a local scrapyard located miles east on the same road. He claimed it is not uncommon sometimes for haulers to lose part of their loads and to have to stop, which the suspect vehicle did after he heard the noise.

From what he believes, the suspect vehicle was a black four-door older sedan that was being driven by a man. He was unable to add much more to the description due to the distance he was from where the accident occurred.

Tips are being followed up on and information is still being sought on the suspect and suspect’s older black car that was believed eastbound on Campbell Rd. at the time.

The Huron County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for any information that can be given about this unfortunate fatal incident. Anyone who may have been traveling through this area near the 6:00 p.m., or who lives in the area that may have seen this possible suspect and the suspect vehicle passing through is asked to call Huron Central Dispatch at 989-269-6421.
