DETROIT, MI – On Sunday July 25th, 2021, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Detroit Police responded to calls of multiple people who were shot near Asbury Park and W. McNichols Rd on Detroit’s west side.

Upon arrival officers found that 7 people had suffered gunshot wounds. One of the victims was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition.

The incident took place at a candlelight vigil for a man who was killed by a hit-and-run driver while riding an all-terrain vehicle. A man in a lime green Chevrolet Camaro pulled up to the group that was gathered and opened fire into the crowd.

A person in the crowd fired back at the Camaro and police believe that the vehicle may have been struck by that gunfire. Police are searching for the vehicle and the driver of that car.

Detroit Police are also trying in locate a black Chevrolet Tahoe that was seen fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. It is unknown what connection this driver and vehicle have with the shooting.
