UPDATE: Barricaded Carjacking Suspect in Holly Township Commits Suicide

HOLLY, MI – Following preliminary information from Michigan State Police, a male suspect and a female suspect were observed in a stolen minivan by a tipster on Tuesday August 3rd, 2021. That tipster contacted 911.

Troopers and local officers are currently out on E Maple in the village of Holly on a barricaded gunman. This is the result of a pursuit of a car jacking suspect. The suspect ran into a home.

The caller saw the vehicle enter a rest area before Holly Road on Northbound I-75. Troopers attempted a traffic stop but the suspects fled. Troopers pursued the vehicle to the E Holly exit. The suspect continued at a high rate of speed and the troopers lost sight of the van.


As the troopers continued on Holly Road, they observed a vehicle with crash damage along the side of the road and further up the road was a second crashed vehicle and the stolen minivan in the front yard of a home.

The drivers of the two other vehicles had non life threatening injuries and were transported out of the area. The suspects were seen by troopers running into a occupied home. The homeowners were released unharmed.

Currently, the Emergency Services Team has a perimeter around the home. MSP aviation is also in the area. Homes near the area have been evacuated. No further information is available at this time. Please check back for updates.


Holly Police, Michigan State Police, Michigan State Police Aviation, Oakland County Police and a SWAT team are currently at the scene.
