OTSEGO COUNTY, MI. On Saturday, July 3rd, 2021, at approximately 11:45 p.m. troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post were dispatched to a report of an assault that had occurred at a residence on N Old 27 Highway in Vanderbilt.
Both parties were now at different locations. The victim was outside the library in Vanderbilt. The suspect was still at the residence. The victim alleged he and the suspect, 31-year-old Erin Lynn Weatherwax from Vanderbilt, had gotten into an argument and as he was trying to leave the residence, she attacked him. He was eventually able to get away. He told Erin Weatherwax he was calling the police. She replied she would too and was going to tell them he struck her first.
Erin Weatherwax was interviewed at her residence along with other persons at the scene. Weatherwax alleged she was struck first by the victim as he attempted to leave the residence.
A report was submitted to the Otsego County Prosecutor’s Office. A warrant was authorized on July 26th. Weatherwax was arrested at her residence on July 29th and lodged in the Otsego County Jail.
Erin Weatherwax was arraigned in the 87-A District Court in Otsego County on one count Domestic Violence Third Offense (Felony). Her bond was set at $5,000 cash surety. Her next scheduled court appearance is on August 12, 2021, at 1:30 p.m.
