LANSING, MI - MDOT has rescheduled the start date for \u00a0I-75 improvements from Dixie Highway to Hess Road. Work, which includes closing the King Road bridge over I-75 with traffic rerouted to M-46, was to begin on March 9th and now starts Wednesday, March 4th, 2015.\r\nThe Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is scheduled to begin road reconstruction and bridge replacement work on I-75 from Dixie Highway to Hess Road in Saginaw County. MDOT will partner with the Saginaw County Road Commission and Buena Vista and Bridgeport township officials to complete the project.\r\nIn addition to the road and bridge project, overall work includes temporary widening to add additional lanes during construction, along with drainage improvements and sound wall construction on I-75. The project includes a five-year materials and workmanship pavement warranty.\r\nMDOT provided an opportunity for the public and Buena Vista Township officials to meet MDOT staff to ask questions about the proposed I-75 improvements in July 2014. During this meeting, residents identified in the noise analysis as being voted in favor of a sound wall on the west side of I-75 from 2,500 feet south of Hess Road to Hess Road. After the vote by area residents, area residents were encouraged to choose one of three options for the sound wall design.\r\nKing Road bridge replacement over I-75: March 9 - April 27\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 King Road will be closed over I-75, with traffic rerouted to M-46.\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Daytime single-lane closures will be in effect on I-75.\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nighttime road closures will be scheduled during bridge demolition and beam replacement work.\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 During nighttime closures, I-75 traffic will be rerouted to Dixie Highway.\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 King Road will reopen to traffic before work begins on Baker and Hess roads.\r\nBaker and Hess roads bridge demolition over I-75 and temporary road widening: April 28 - June 20\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Baker and Hess roads will be closed over I-75 and detoured using multiple routes.\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Daytime single-lane closures will be in effect on I-75.\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nighttime road closures will be scheduled during bridge demolition and beam replacement work.\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 During nighttime closures, I-75 traffic will be rerouted to Dixie Highway.\r\nSouthbound I-75 road reconstruction, including Baker and Hess roads bridge replacement\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Southbound I-75 traffic will be shifted to northbound lanes during road and bridge work.\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Northbound traffic will be shifted onto the temporary lanes (widened area).\r\n-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Traffic will be shifted, using a moveable barrier wall, to keep three lanes open in the peak travel direction for the duration of this work.\r\n\r\n2016\r\nNorthbound I-75 road reconstruction\r\nNorthbound and southbound I-75 traffic will be maintained on the southbound lanes during northbound I-75 reconstruction. Three lanes of traffic will be open in the peak travel direction using a moveable barrier wall.
