DETROIT, MI - On Saturday November 24th, 2018, at approximately 4:40PM, a Metro South Post Trooper was flagged down and advised a vehicle was blocking Howard St in front of the bus station. When the trooper arrived on scene, he observed front end damage to a black Chevy Cruze.\r\nWhile investigating the vehicle, a cab driver told the trooper the front seat passenger was armed. The driver was described as female. MSP Dispatch advised the Trooper that this was a fresh car jacking that occurred at Michigan and 3rd. The registered owner of the car had been shot twice.\r\nThe Trooper stood by rendering assistance until the arrival of DPD units. The incident was turned over to Detroit Police.\r\nAccording to Detroit Police, a man and a woman were in the victim's car traveling on Michigan Avenue, discussing money, when the suspect announced he was robbing the driver. A struggle ensued inside of the moving vehicle when the suspect produced a gun and shot the victim in the leg. The victim's car collided with two other cars on Michigan Avenue during the struggle.\r\nThe victim then fled his vehicle to seek help. As he fled the suspect continued to fire shots at him before the two suspects drove off and around the corner. They stopped at the bus station on Howard Street where the man and woman got into a cab and told the drive to "Go ! GO !. They wanted to be driven to the east side. The cab driver thought they were a normal fare and did as he was told.\r\nPolice eventually apprehended the two in the 3000 block of Rohns Street and did recover a weapon.\r\nThe victim, who was shot twice. He was taken to a local area hospital and was listed in stable condition.\r\nThe investigation is ongoing.
