ROCHESTER HILLS, MI - A Oakland County Sheriff's Deputy was in the area of Adams Rd., south of M-59 when he observed a Hummer H3 with no license plate commit a traffic violation.\r\nThe Deputy activated his emergency lights and siren to stop the vehicle. The driver refused to stop and accelerated away from the Deputy. The vehicle turned west onto the entrance ramp of westbound M-59. The Deputy successfully completed a Pursuit Termination Technique (PTT) maneuver, safely ending the pursuit before the driver was able to get onto M-59.\r\nThe driver, John Joseph Melotik, a 54-year-old man, of Canton Twp was taken into custody without further incident. A LEIN check of the VIN revealed that the vehicle, a 2006 Hummer H3, was reported stolen to the City of Southgate Police Department.\r\nVehicle was stolen from Southgate in 2017. Melotik has been driving the vehicle knowing it was stolen which he paid $200 for and admitted so.\r\nDetectives from the OCSO Auto Theft Unit were contacted and responded to continue the investigation. The driver was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges.\r\nThe Oakland County Preosecutors Office issued a 2 count warrant of Receiving & Concealing a Motor Vehicle and Flee & Elude 4th degree. He is scheduled for arraignment this afternoon at 52-3 District Court.
