GOGEBIC COUNTY, MI - On Thursday, March 31st, 2016, the Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team executed a search warrant in E 5193 Sunset Road in Ironwood Township. \r\nOfficers encountered an active methamphetamine lab and extra precautions had to be taken to ensure everyone\u2019s safety. The components used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine can be very hazardous to one\u2019s health especially the gasses that are created when the items are combined together.\r\nIn result of that search warrant John Raymond Davis, 41-years-old and Sara Anne Harris, 31-years-old were both arrested. The two individuals were arraigned in Gogebic County District Court in Bessemer Michigan. Both are charged with the same five felonies which include:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tTwo counts of Operating\/Maintaining a Laboratory involving Methamphetamine: felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and\/or $25,000.\r\n\tTwo counts of Operating \/Maintaining a Laboratory near a residence: felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and\/or $25,000.\r\n\tOne count of Conspiracy Operating\/Maintaining a Laboratory: felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and\/or $25,000\r\n\r\nBond on Davis and Harris was set at $100,000 at 10%.\r\nGIANT was assisted by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team and the Ironwood Township Volunteer Fire Department with the cleanup of the hazardous materials.\r\nThe case is being handled by Gogebic County Prosecutor Nick Jacobs. This matter is still under investigation and additional charges and arrests are possible.\r\nGIANT is the local task force comprised of the Ironwood Public Safety Department, Hurley Police Department, Gogebic County Sheriff, Iron County Sheriff Departments and Lac Vieux Desert Tribal Police.
