ISABELLA COUNTY, MI - An accident involving three vehicles occurred between Rosebush and Mt. Pleasant just after Baseline Road around 10:30PM on December 5th, 2014.\r\nThe US-127 southbound lane between Mt. Pleasant and Rosebush was shut down due to the large accident.\r\nPolice had been told to be on the lookout for a wrong-way driver in the area minutes before the crash was reported.\r\nDeputies were called to the scene around 10:30p.m. Friday after emergency dispatchers received multiple calls of a highway accident involving several fatalities.\r\nRyan Michael Tree was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup north in the southbound lanes on the highway when the head-on accident occurred. \u00a0 Authorities state that Tree had been drinking just prior to the crash.\r\nTwo people were reportedly killed.\u00a0 Scott Michael Kuhnert, 45-years-old, of Bath and Ryan Michael Tree, 41-years-old, of Shepherd were pronounced dead at the scene.\r\nOne person,\u00a0Ellen Monahan Andary, 57-years-old, of Bath, was air lifted to Sparrow hospital.\u00a0 She is listed in critical condition.\u00a0 She was a passenger in the Kuhnert vehicle, a 2014 Volkswagen Passat.\r\nRyan Tree first struck the Volkswagen Passat head-on driven by Scott Kuhnert.\u00a0 The Volkswagen then hit a 2010 Ford Focus driven by Joshua Watters.\r\nAuthorities believe the velocity of the impact to be between 150-170 miles per hour in the crash of the pickup truck and the\u00a0Volkswagen.\u00a0 The speedometer in one of the vehicles was stuck at 77 miles per hour after the accident.\r\nJoshua Mark Watters, 21-years-old and Thomas William Arends, 15-years-old, both of Mt. Pleasant, were taken to McLaren Central Michigan for treatment of minor injuries.\r\nEveryone except Tree were wearing seat belts.\r\nMDOT reports that SB US-127 traffic was rerouted via Exit 149 Rosebush, to Old US-27 (Old Mission Rd), south to US-127 BR, back to US-127.\u00a0 US-127 was reopened around 1am.\r\nMichigan State police, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police, Shepherd Police and the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department assisted at the scene.
