BAD AXE, MI - On Friday May 11th, 2018, at 9:00AM, the Huron County Sheriff's Office and several other agencies responded to the Sebewaing Rd. near Blakely Road for a car\/semi-truck and trailer serious injury accident.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe preliminary investigation is indicating that a westbound 2018 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 33-year-old Sean A. Mauze, of Salem Oregon, crossed the centerline into the path of an eastbound loaded 2003 Kenworth semi-truck and trailer. The semi was being driven by 57-year-old Dean C. Henne of Bay Port.\r\nAfter the two vehicle collided, the semi came to rest in the south ditch and the car came to rest in the north side ditch.\r\nMr. Mauze had to be freed from his vehicle by the Oliver Twp. Fire Department and was flown from the scene by helicopter to an out of county hospital for life threatening injuries. Mr. Henne eventually received treatment at a local hospital for what appeared at the time as minor injuries.\r\nSebewaing Rd. was closed until around 5:00PM while our accident investigators processed the scene and clean up and removal of the vehicles took place. Several gallons of diesel fuel from the heavily damaged truck were spilled, which required the response of the Harbor Beach Fire Department Hazardous Material Team.\r\nThe accident remains under investigation.\r\nOther responding agencies on scene were the Elkton Ambulance Service, Central Huron Ambulance, Michigan State Police and the Huron County Road Commission.
