MT. MORRIS TOWNSHIP, MI - On Sunday evening, November 30th, 2014, a terrible auto accident occurred that involved 5 cars on I-75 at the Pierson Road Exit 122.\u00a0 A 54-year-old woman lost her life in the crash.\r\nPolice said the accident took place around 8 p.m. when the driver of one of the five vehicles said they were cut off by another vehicle that led to the chain reaction accident.\r\nShelly Lazarus, 54-years-old, from Bloomfield Hills has been identified as the person who died from her injuries.\u00a0 Her husband, Eric Lazarus, 55-years-old, was in critical condition but has been upgraded to stable condition.\r\nShelley was the\u00a0Eastover Elementary school Media Specialist and worked for Bloomfield Hills Schools since 1988. Her husband, Eric Lazarus, is the Caretaker for the Bloomfield Hills Schools E.L. Johnson Nature Center\r\nThe couple was traveling in a Ford Focus. The car that Shelley and Eric Lazarus were in slowed for traffic, but the car behind them didn't stop, and read-ended them.\r\nThe driver of the car that hit them is in jail.\u00a0 He reportedly was driving with a suspended license, and police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.\u00a0 Police took the 25-year-old Montrose man into custody after the crash. He was lodged in the Genesee County Jail.\u00a0 This individual has prior arrests for alcohol-related offenses.
